Margaret Jessop
I am an Art Quilter who lives and works in Bowness. Known for my portraits and landscapes, I am also famous for my use of colour. I started my art education at the Allied Arts Centre and recently graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design (now AUArts) in Fibre. In 2016, I was honoured as Quilter of DIstinction at the Calgary Festival of Quilts held at Heritage Park. I have been creating art quilts since 1983 and have been teaching quilting for almost 40 years. I have been doing trunk shows for the past fifteen yearRecently I had the honour to be the Artist in Residence in my community of Bowness in Calgary. My quilts have been shown nationally and internationally.
For the past forty years, I have taught classes to many beginner to advanced quilters, from young children to seniors. I have a longarming business where you can have your quilts quilted or learn how to quilt them yourself on my longarm. I have created many commissions for clients, and my quilts are in collections all over Canada and the USA.
I am a member of several guilds in Calgary as well as Textile Art groups including the Fibre Art Network (FAN), the Alberta Craft Council (ACC) and the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA). My studio is Quilts on the Bow where my studio is along the Bow River.

I have been blessed to have a wonderful patient husband and I have had four amazing talented children and now have five grandchildren who "assist" me in my studio.
